Professor Robin Perry

Director

Research page: Research Complex at Harwell

Professor Robin Perry is affiliated with the London Centre for Nanotechnology and the Department of Physics and Astronomy at UCL. He specialises in crystal growth and bulk measurements of functional materials, with 96 published papers (including 6 in Science, 3 in Nature, and 19 in Physical Review Letters), a h-index of 38, and a total of 6,200 citations. His research spans superconductivity, magnetism, quantum criticality, and exotic metallic behaviour. With 20 years of experience, he has grown various oxide and chalcogenide families via the floating zone technique, including ruthenates, iridates, vanadates, titanates, and ferrites. In 2013, he founded the UCL Crystal Growth Laboratory (UCL-CGL) at Harwell to foster collaboration and support users of national facilities based there.

Dr. Alex Rettie

Deputy Director

Dr. Alex Rettie is an Associate Professor in Chemical Engineering at University College London (UCL). His expertise lies in the discovery and characterisation of electrochemical energy materials. Before joining UCL, he was a post-doc at Argonne National Laboratory, specialising in materials design and total scattering techniques. He earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 2015, focusing on metal oxide photoelectrodes, and holds an M.Eng. degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Edinburgh.
